February 2017 Scrapbooking Workshop – City Sidewalks

I love the City Sidewalks paper suite!  These four layouts include lots of Cricut cuts from the City Sidewalks digital Cricut collection -- aren't they fun!!

I did use lots of 4x6, 4x4, and 3x4 flip flaps again – of course – I just love our flip flaps!  :-)  They are great for adding extra photos without creating another layout.  I also usually hide my journaling under one of the flip flaps.

On the "I Ruff Christmas" layout (the 4th one shown below), I used a 6x12 flip flap to add a little pizazz to the layout as well as additional photo space.  This flip flap is included in the workshop kit.

Let me know if you are interested in joining our workshops.  We typically meet every other month.  The next two workshops will be in March and May.  We will be voting on paper packs from the new Seasonal Expression 1 supplemental catalog when we meet in February to decide what paper we are going to work with for March and May.

This is the "I Ruff Christmas" layout with the 6x12 Flip Flap on the right lying flat (closed):

These two photos show the "I Ruff Christmas" layout with the 6x12 Flip Flap lifted:

Note:  This is not part of the workshop kit, but I also personally used one of the new Pocket Plus page inserts (Design 3) for my overflow pictures of Santa that didn't fit on either of the two layouts I did for our visit to the Legendary Santa ("Tis the season to be jolly" and "Noel").  I also used two of the leftover PML cards (including one journaling card) that come in the kit.  I'll decide into which layout I will insert this page when I add the pages to my album (I'm leaning toward "Tis the season").  That's the beauty of these Pocket Plus page inserts -- you can use them in multiple layouts  They are another great way of adding additional photos or journaling to a layout.

National Papercrafting Month Special -- January 2017

Check out this awesome January special that CTMH is having in celebration of National Papercrafting month.  It is the Welcome Home Wreath kit, which comes with pre-cut pieces that you pop out and attach to the chipboard wreath base.  I've seen some awesome finished products being posted.  My kit is on it's way (delayed by the snow).  I can't wait to put it together!

You can:
  • Earn it for free with a $60 order (which would also qualify  you to purchase the January Stamp of the Month for $5)
  • Purchase it outright for $18.95
  • January hostesses get it for free with a $250 party!!
If you are interested, you can place an order on my website (http://sherryhawa.closetomyheart.com), or let me know if you want me to place an order for you.  Also, let me know if you want to be a hostess and earn it for free (you can have an online or "book" party).  This item is only available in January.

Following are images of the wreath as assembled by some other consultants.  Isn't it an awesome kit!

Here it is put together as instructed (no inking)

Here are a couple with inking, the roses tinted, and our new shimmer pen used on some of the pieces:

This gal added some petals using our Sea Mist glitter paper (she used the stencils left over from punching out the flower parts to trace some more petals and added them to the mix).  She also tinted her roses using water colors:

Love this one.  She used a styrofoam base and Oh Deer! paper:

And I also love this one!  She mounted all her flowers on a grapevine wreath (and added a wooden "S").  Then she said she used the wreath from the kit on a layout and cut some Cricut flowers from the new Flower Market cartridge.  So cute!!

Let me know if you have any questions, or if I can help you with anything.

Happy National Papercrafting month!!

November 2016 Scrapbooking Workshop – Swan Lake

We used the Swan Lake paper suite in November, and it is really nice paper and versatile!  I'm sure this paper was designed for fall and Thanksgiving type pictures, but I was bound and determined to actually put pictures on my pages this month before the workshop.  I thought I had printed Thanksgiving pictures from last year, but when I went to scrapbook them, alas, I had not printed them yet.  However, I did have prints of our Virginia Beach trip this past summer, so I figured out a way to make them work.  This paper and embellishments were all about being thankful and feeling blessed, and I am so thankful for our family and the time we can all spend together, so those pictures worked out perfectly.  And I can truly say that this is versatile paper!  :-)

There is one piece of black patterned paper with seasonal fall words on it, but I just covered it with photos -- no problem!!

I did use flip flaps again – of course – I just love our flip flaps!  :-)

I also used one of the new Pocket Plus page inserts (Design 1) on the "Love" page.  I think these Pocket Plus inserts are going to become a favorite of mine and rank up there with the Flip Flaps!  They are another great way of adding additional photos or journaling to a layout.

Let me know if you are interested in joining our workshops.  We typically meet every other month.  We will start out the new year in 2017 by meeting in February and then again in March.

September 2016 Scrapbooking Workshop -- Florence

We used the Florence paper suite this month, and it is really nice paper!  I’m still not sure what pictures I'm using it for, but I think I going to use a couple of the layouts for the first day of school photos.  I usually know exactly what pictures I’m going to scrap as soon as I see paper, but this month I’m not totally sure.  But I still really like this paper and really love the embellishments that match this paper suite.  Once again I need to apologize for posting pictureless pages.  I seem to have a time management problem lately and can’t get my pictures on my pages before I need to take the pictures!

I do plan to use flip flaps again – of course – and have placed a few on the layouts for purposes of illustration.  I almost always plan the spacing on the layouts to allow for perfect spacing for flip flaps.  I just love our flip flaps!  :-)

Let me know if you are interested in joining our workshops.  We typically meet every other month.  We only have one remaining workshop in 2016 and that will be November 14th and 15th.  We will be scrapbooking with the Swan Lake paper suite found in the Holiday Inspirations Idea Book.  And then we will start out the new year in 2017 by meeting in January and then again in March.

August 2016 Scrapbooking Workshop -- Calypso

We’re scrapping with the Calypso paper suite this month, and I love it!  It’s perfect for all of those fun beach/river/pool/summer pictures we've all been busy taking these last few months.  I’m posting pictures of my pages without pictures.  My pictures will be ready tomorrow, but I wanted to get the pages posted tonight so I apologize that they are pictureless at the moment.  Again, I’ll be using lots of flip flaps – of course!!  How else can you get all those cute pictures on your pages?!?!?

The new Annual Inspirations catalog went live on August 1st (which has 4 brand new exciting Fundamental paper lines – Whimsy, Adventure, Enchantment, Adventure, and 4 Basics collections), and the new Holiday Expressions will go live on September 1st (which has FOUR brand new themed paper suites), so we’ll be voting on what paper we want to use for the next few workshops when we meet this week.

Let me know if you are interested in joining our workshops.  We typically meet every other month.  The remaining workshops for 2016 are August, September, and November.

June 2016 Scrapbooking Workshop -- Happy Times

Close to My Heart had a special in May for National Scrapbooking Month for the Happy Times paper line so we decided to use that paper in June.  We used a workshop designed by Brenda Rose -- she did a beautiful job with the coordinating "Happy Times" stamp set.

We will be using the new Calypso paper line in August for our next regular workshop.

Let me know if you are interested in joining our workshops.  We typically meet every other month.  The remaining workshops for 2016 are August, September, and November.
